The Princess Project

The Princess Project- a passion for mothers, all precious daughters of God the King.

The Princess Project aims to love, support and encourage mothers, especially those parenting in challenging circumstances. It is a registered charity based in Park Wood, Maidstone. Services include:

  • Princess gift baskets. These baskets, containing many small, individually wrapped gifts, are given to new mums, to make them feel valued and special.

  • Mum2Mum befriending service. The aim of Mum2Mum is to offer friendship and support to new mums aged 16-30. Mums are matched with a volunteer befriender, who will meet with them on a one-to-one basis, at least once a fortnight; the pair may go for a coffee and a chat, or a walk, or a toddler group… whatever the mum finds most helpful. The befrienders provide a non-judgmental, listening ear, and a consistent, caring presence. Princess Project befrienders are volunteers from local churches. They are mums themselves, and are from all walks of life. They have been through a selection process which includes taking part in a training course, and being interviewed. References are obtained, and DBS checks carried out for all befrienders. Referral forms for this service can be downloaded from the website (www.princessproject.co.uk)
  • Totcycle. Totcycle is our monthly baby and toddler goods exchange, which is held at Christ Church, Park Wood. This is a forum for parents to bring along any clothing, toys and furniture they no longer need, and take away any that they do! All items are free of charge. Refreshments are provided. Large items can be collected and/or delivered by arrangement. Totcycle dates are published on our website and facebook page, but are generally on the first Wednesday of each month, 10.30-12.

  • “Totcycle @ The Hub”. From Friday 11th November 2016, our Princess Project town centre Hub will open at our new home at Maidstone United Reformed Church. Families will be able to access our bank of baby and toddler books, clothing, toys, and equipment between 10am and 2pm every Friday during term time. Visitors to the Hub are guaranteed a warm welcome and a listening ear. There is plenty to occupy little people at the Hub- although the focus of this setting is on the mums. There are baby changing and feeding facilities, and free refreshments for all our visitors. All our Totcycle items are free of charge to families who need them.

  • Parenting groups and courses. The Princess Project runs regular parenting groups in a variety of locations, including schools, toddler groups and churches. The courses are very informal and discussion based, using the Parentalk resources from the charity Care for the Family, and always feature generous amounts of homemade cake to help the discussion along! These groups are a great opportunity to meet other parents and invest a bit of time in your family life, whether things are going well or things are difficult.
